A/C Fan relais and wiring problem
 

Hello,

i am having a problem trying to fix my A/C.

Currently my A/C doesn't do anything, so i started checking with the help of my newly aquired Bentley manual.

First check was the blower motor and i allready don't have any voltage there, checked the fuse and i have power at the fuse. Checked A/C blower switch and don't have any power there (red wire).

According to the wiring diagram there is a relais between the fuse and the switch. I cannot find this relais! The wiring from the Fuse goes somewhere into the main Harness and not to the A/C relais!
Is there another relais or what is going on here?

I hope somebody can help me with this.

Which blower are you talking about ?, the fresh air fan in the smugglers box or the frt. aux condenser fan? the relay for the fresh air/A/C fan is in the Smugglers box on the pass side the relay for the frt. condensor fan is beside the battery.

Thanks, that helped. I was looking for the blower motor relay, connected red and red/white and blower motor runs at all speeds and i could hear the clutch clicking.
Tested Relay, relais bad. Great sound like a cheap A/C fix for 13.25$

Thanks again, i was so focused on the relais in the fuse box that i didn't think of looking anywhere else.

If the relay is bad, go to rat shack and ask for an automotive relay, take the one from your car with. They will be able to match it up and it be a lot CHEAPER than a PORSCHE relay which are now made in CHINA.

So,..problem fixed?

yes electrical problem with A/C solved. Next is the recharge with R-134A, probably next weekend, maybe i will have more questions then, but i have to search the forum first.

Did it have R134a in it before? Factory was R12.

My system is a stock system, York Compresor and R12. I know there is a lot of discussion on this board if it is ok to just fill it with R134a vs. rebuild vs. R12. I am considering R134a, if it only means a recharge once in a while and less cooling performance.
