Help me get my knob off

I've got a Momo shift knob on a short shift kit of unkown origin from PO. I'm installing a WEVO but I'm stuck on getting the shift knob off. I've banged per manual but it doesn't budge. Any ideas? Here's a picture of my situation.

There should be a small black anodized aluminum sleeve at the bottom of the knob. Unscrew that all the way and then feel around and you'll eventually find a little hole with a small allen screw screwed into it that drives its way down and snugs itself against the shifter. Just back the allen off and it should come right off.

Hi Jeff,

I recently tried to get my stock knob off without success by using the Pelican Tech and Bentleys directions. I think at some point you're going to do more damage to the shifter than it's worth. I would use a Dremel with an abrasive cutoff wheel and cut it away.

I see that you have the same brown wire with the connector attached at the DME. Mine is unplugged, do you know what the wire is for?

Jeff,
I did this a while ago. I remember the bottom of the Momo knob is a silver sleeve which needs to be "unscrewed" in order to get to the 4 allen screws that hold the knob in place.

It's a PTA, what I did was get one of those rubber things that help unscrew tight jar tops in your kitchen. It helped get a good grip on the silver sleeve.

Hope this helps.

Does it spin or is ti permanently afixed?

Some Guy get tired of the looseness so they epoxy it. Mine Kept Spinning on me so I Retroed to OEM.

Amir,

You were spot on. That did it.

I discovered after pealing back the carpet that there was a bundle of wires the had been clipped. I'm thinking factory but I'm not sure.

Any ideas on what they were for? I've got A/C into the center console but that's it.

I also have a spacer plate in there. Would that be part of the short shift kit? I'm guessing I would not put that back when the WEVO goes in. Right?

That looks like the spacer from the Weltmeister kit. You are correct, it goes away.

A guess on the wires. On my center console, in between the two AC knobs, I have a wheel the balances the speakers front to rear. It looks like your speaker wires may have been modded?

BINGO. That's gotta be it. The shop I bought this from updated the stereo. You see those blue krimp (cheap) connectors, that's for the speakers I'm guessing.

Thanks to all. After the shifter gets here, I'll show it all put together.
