Question Polishing Fan Blade and Housing :-)

I've decided to polish the fan blade after reading everyone’s reply.
So now I have a few new questions :-).

What is the best way to polish the fan blade?
Should I use sand paper first? What grades?
Should this be done by hand or orbital?
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Happy motoring!

I'd first use a solvent to break down the goop the factory put on the fan. That may save you some elbow grease (if done by hand). I used a 3M abrasive wheel on a drill to get started. Then, I used coarse to fine grades of 3M abrasive pads and steel wool since they're more flexible for working around the edges and corners.

It's not a mirror finish mind you, but it's bright aluminum now. So, I did it by hand and it turned out pretty nice. If you don't clear it with something (I didn't), you have to rub it for a few minutes every so often to brighten it up.
