Post What's your favorite brand of shine?

Hey, guys with shiny cars (you know who you are...Jack), what do you use to get that diamond-like luster?

Looking at my own garage shelf, I see the following brands: Zymol, Mothers, Meguiars, and TurtleWax (mmm...ever seen a shiny turtle?). Still looking for the ultimate shine.

I have always used Pinnacle products from
http://www.autopia-carcare.com but I have heard a lot of good comments about Zaino it
seems as if all the Viper and Vette owners use it and nothing else.

I just don't care much for the fact that it is synthetic based and therefore from the pictures I have seen the depth is not a good as with a caranuba based wax. Although Zaino does seem to have a much brighter shine.

So I guess if you like depth try somthing like Pinnacle Souveran wax (what I use) but if you like shine better then I would definitaly give Zaino a try.

Just my $9.12cents

I've had pretty good results with Blitz wax, although it seems to yellow slightly on my white car after a few months. I saw this after I used the 3M hand glaze on a section and it was noticably whiter than the waxed section.

I'm going to try the P21s wax next. Any other recommendations for a white car?

When I bought my SC, it had some crap on the windshield that made it look brand new. It was some kind of wax or something, because it got all smudged when I drove in crappy snow/salt/mud and it started to turn white and smudge on the windshield. I wiped it all off, and now the windshield is all pitted. Any idea what that paste/ Wax stuff might have been?

I have only used Mother's mag polish and wax. I use "Back to Black" on the rubber trim. I can't remember who makes this. I have been happy with teh results so far. I haven't found a glass treatment yet.

Talking

Jeeze, I clicked on because I thought you were talking SHINE. You know, the stuff Junior Johnson used to haul? That said, I've pretty well stuck with Meguire's over the years, tho I've tried plenty of 'em. My current formula is #7 polish/glaze on the spots that need it, then a coat of the #6 cleaner/wax, then a top coat of pure carnuba, paste form. Keep in mind this is on a '72, still sporting her original Irish green paint...which is the old enamel, so may not work well with the clear coat modern stuff. Does it work on enamel? I've got some "people's choice", "Best 911" type show awards to make me think it does...

Definetely go with Zaino Bros. It shines better than anything else I have ever tried, it leaves no white residue, and it is easy to apply. It even smells good! A starter kit (lasted me over a year) is about $32.00 and includes all three steps and the applicator.

Let me know if you want my neighbors number, he is a distributor.

I use the Autoglym range, shampoo, wax, leather treatment, bumper care etc. It works brilliantly and without to much elbow grease.

I use Starbrite Teflon based polish, works great on the boats and my car!.
Seems to be less hard work than regular polishes and seems to last very well.

For the van and BMW I use Meguiars cleaner/wax, Meguiars Glod Glass Clear Cloat wax, and for detailing the best solution ever made, Meguiars Quick Detailer.

For the Porsches I use Griotts Barage Wax. Only lasts about 3 months but boy does it SHINE good!

"Junior Johnson"..heh, heh, heh, that's a good one!

Checked out the Z-Bros website. (I guess anybody with a Z in their name must be all right). There are lots of products they sell, and it looks like they have a 3-step system to apply the stuff. Sounds like a fair bit of work, no? And how does it last?

I use Zymol and started with 3M Hand Glaze and the results are not bad on my orig paint Guards Red 88. Have any listers used Dri Wash n Guard? I recently got some and it seems to do a really good job. I live in an apt so don't have access to hand washing. It takes the last bit of haze off that car washes don't really remove.
Thanks,
Buck

I have a BLACK 84 Targa, nothing beats 3M Boat wax from wal-mart, no dried powder crap
and the black looks like it got clear coated. The stuff is applied with a DRY rag, and on a black car that dried powder is a *****, this stuff is thick, does not spread alot (you have to use alot on a small area) but looks great when the haze is wiped off. before that I use the Mcguires polish, which makes the black look really blacker.

I use P21S and apply it with my finger tips. Works great but isn't the longest lasting so I wouldn't use it on a daily driver. I've heard that Zaino (being synthetic) doesn't do well on German paints.

Has anyone else heard this?
