If they don't show up on the Pelican site they order it via phone. I have done it many times. Please don't promote other sites on this board.

Just because the part you're looking for isn't in their catalog, doesn't mean that Pelican Parts can't supply it at a fair to good price. By supporting Pelican you support this web site that helps many of us accomplish work on our cars that otherwise would be impossible. Call'em...

Thanks,

Art,

Most parts are actually on the Pelican site. Taking your example of flexible brake lines, they are there, if you know where to look. Something I can suggest, if you have trouble finding parts, is to obtain a copy of PET and look up the part number you need there, then enter it in the search box at the top left of the screen.

Not only are parts from Pelican reasonably priced, their after-sales follow up is second to none. That's the best part for me. I always know what is happening with my orders and when I can expect to receive them. They also sometimes will give you a choice between Genuine Porsche parts, OEM equivalents and aftermarket reproductions (where available) so you always know what you are getting. Other vendors, you first know what you got when you open the box. Personally, I usually prefer the genuine stuff and it's nice to know that's what I'm getting when I place the order.

A while ago, I did a little evaluation of pricing & such. After sourcing stuff here, Vertex, GPR and AJ, I looked at the real savings when I shopped items by price only. By the time I had factored in shipping from various sources and having to search the others, it was pretty much a wash.

PLUS, who else has a forum like this?

I'd have to recommend Pelican Parts.

If you don't find the part in the online catalog, look at the parts diagrams here

http://www.pelicanparts.com/PartsLookup/Parts_Lookup_Main_Page.htm

to find the part number.

The Porsche dealer you mention, as do all American Porsche dealers, acquire the parts from the same place we do. In other words, everything anybody else can supply, Pelican can supply.

Since our host sells Porsche OEM parts, it's really bad form to be seeking referrals elsewhere. I'm surprised Scott at Pelican Parts didn't slam you. Must be too much of a gentleman.

Okay, okay, I deserved a bit of a lambasting.

Last time I looked for brake lines here, I thought that I remember only seeing aftermarket options. I guess the key is knowing where to look. Now I see the Porsche rear ones. It looks like I have to call on the front ones.

No wait, I did find the front ones too. It really IS knowing where to look.

Dude, This one time at band camp . . .

Seriously, I found some weird off the wall part that wasn't in the catalog. I asked them about it online. They added to item to their catalog within minutes so I could order it. As far as I know it's still in the catalog because one dude requested it.

These guys rule!

"key is knowing where to look"

- Just call -- they are very good at order handling on the phone & not everything _is_ online.

I did think tho that there were things that Stoddard's (special magic dealer) had, that Pelican did not. Maybe that has changed...

If it's in Porsche's price list, then we have it, just type in the part number. Simple as that. It's against forum rules to post links to my competitors. Doing so will get you banned very quickly.

Wayne,

I owe you an apology for starting this thread. My motivation was to find a part that I thought you did not sell. I had no intention of taking business away from you. I know now that you do sell the part and that it was my lack of perseverance and ignorance that led me to think that you did not sell it. I am especially sorry for my mistake because I've benefited substantially in many ways from your site.
