Question Flammable Undercoating?

I have been preparing the underbody for spraying undercoating. I am thinking about spraying the firewall, However after reading the can of Undercoating ("Blue Magic" at PEP BOYS) that it is extremely flammable.
I am now questioning this whole idea of undercoating?

in my opinion, the best stuff is SKS black by WURTH. it's water based, non-flammable, stays highly elastic, and can be used on rockers, front valances, gas tanks, fender wells, and looks like the OEM texture. easy cleanup until it dries, then it's real tough. you can paint over it in 2-3 hours. you need a special, and cheap "rocker shutz" gun to apply it properly. some of that schucks stuff never sets up.

As usual, JW is right-on. I used the Wurth product this winter to touch up the undercoating on my SC. The "shutz" gun works with your shop air compressor. The gun cost me $20 and screws right on to the can the undercoating comes in. Oh yeah....this is messy work, so mask off anyplace you don't want the spray. And don't ask me how to get it out of your hair!!!!

I'll second that - the Wurth SKS is great. I painted on three quarts with a brush - about three coats. No doubt spraying is better, but it's a year later now and it still looks great.

Would a brush application be OK just for touching up small spots?

The nice thing about using the gun is it sprays the stuff on with the same texture as the original undercoating. A brush will work, and may be less hassle for small areas.
