Very Strange Front End Noise

I need help! I've searched the forum and have not found an answer. Here is the situation: 1980 911SC replaced front balljoints, turbo tie rods, strut inserts, sway bar bushings, new inner and outer wheel bearings, new tires.

Here is the problem: After all this I have a humming noise coming from the front end. Starts at about 30mph and gets progressively louder and very annoying after 50mph. It goes away when I jerk the steering wheel to the left...but comes right back again when the wheel goes back to the center.

Is there anything I am missing!!! This noise is slowly driving me insane!

Thanks Victor:confused:

Recheck your left front wheel bearings. Did you replace the races as well. If you did you may have one not seated properly, or trash in the bearing. If you did not replace the races, you may have a bearing/race mismatch. I say left because when you jerk the wheel to the left you unload that side and the noise changes. Let us know what you find.

Do you have a friend you could do a quick front tire swap with and give it a try?

+1 bearings, unless you have some very funky tires ....

What does +1 bearings mean? I can swap the front tires. Thanks for the input.

+1 just means they also concur with the first opinion on bearings as the problem.
