Angry conv top latch wont hold

Hey guys. I cant seem to get my top to latch down properly on my 83sc. There are 2 metal plates there. Does the latch go in between the plates or underneath both plates? The wind noise is driving me crazy.

Also, Do any of you know the part number to replace that rubber seal?
Thanks in advance.

Something looks very wrong with that picture. I will see if I can find a picture that show what is supposed to be there. Tony.

This is what my 83 cab looks like - I cannot see for sure the latch when the it latches - but based on the scratching mine clamps under both plates. - The lower plate on mine looks like a dowel that the clamp hooks too. Again visibility inside the windshield header is poor.

well I couldnt get the 2 plates to come close to each other like yours. I think the latch is catching in between the 2 plates. I just removed the top plate. Looks ugly but maybe it will work.
