John, thanks for your participation on this (and other) boards. You are are obviously very busy and have a lot of other things to do, and are very generous with your valuable time.
While a lot of us have read all "the" books, and done varying amounts of work on our own cars, there simply is *no* substitute for professional experience, expertise and wisdom. Stuff you just can't get if you're not wrenching on these beasts every day. I hope you stick around for a while, we all benefit from your professional knowledge. Please know that it does not go unappreciated. |

I will second that. I have had numerous emails with John, most recently about 10 minutes ago concerning a clutch question. I am just finalizing the assembly of my 3.2 and he has responded to many queries I had concerning rod bolts/nuts, pistons, cylinders, rings, torque specs, release bearings.
Of course, I have not heard the engine actually RUN yet, so maybe I better hold back just a little on my final judgement of his technical knowledge! Thanks John Walker! Tom |

Funny, I wasn't sure if John ran a for profit P-Car Workshop or that was the name he used as his handle, maybe a Nickname the neighborhood gave him because he was always in the garage and very knowledgeable.
We are very fortunate on this board to have so many in the know individuals willing to share thier expertise. Still waiting for the Early_S_Man Workbook for Neophytes. Mrdi(qualified neophyte) |

I agree. Some of these "tribute posts" have gotten downright creepy and bizzare, but John deserves "kudos" for being so generous with his professional expertise.
Hope you stick around, John. |

Agreed,
With people like John Walker, Warren and the rest of those who live, eat, sleep and breathe Porsches, it makes our lives and pocketbooks a lot more secure! Appreciate the help from all of you ! Wish we would have had a forum like this years ago! JA |

I agree, I am a fan from the Rennlist.
People like John who make their living working on Porsches, but are willing to give free advice, are not that common. Enthusiasts willing to spend a lot of time trying to help other enthusiasts is one thing (that's called a "hobby") but its entirely different (on many different levels) when someone who makes their living doing this is willing to "give it away free." I've really enjoyed your posts, John! Thanks! |
