Question Valve adjustment

I am going to try my first valve adjustment soon. What feeler gauge size am I supposed to get the .004 or the .006? Do I buy new valve stem seals? Any things to look out for in particular. Thanks in advance.

you must have the proper feeler gauge holder!!!, and several .004 blades. you will kill the blades frequently until you get good at it. you need a valve cover gasket set. the stem seals are under the springs, so you won't be replacing those. hopefully you have a manual with the procedure. basically you adjust both valves on each cylinder at TDC, in the firing order.
