Ignition ? with carbs
Hello all you Guru’s
I am going to put carbs on my 1979 3.0 SC engine. The question is; what do I need for ignition, do I stay with the same distributor, anything else I should look at? Thanks, and let’s hear it….

All you need to do is have your SC distributor recurved to suit.
![]() You can retain the stock SC Bosch CD ignition or use an MSD setup.

Slider I have a 83SC with PMO carbs and I am running the stock Bosch CD ignition box and I had my stock distributor recurved by Barry Hershon, his name came from the PMO website. I know Jerry Woods and probably others do this work also. When I spoke with Barry on the phone he told me flat out that the car wouldn't run right without going to a MSD ignition box but I have found that it runs just fine. A multi spark box like MSD or Mallory might help a little at idle but it's not needed in my experience. When the distributor was reworked the vacumn advance was removed so it's strictly mechanical advance. Good luck with yours.
