Aftermarket billet aluminum 3.2 heads

Does anyone have any experience with any after market billet aluminum heads? I am considering a set for an upcoming engine build. Please give me your experiences and photos

Thanks Mark

I had my heads done by a local guy here in FL, Bill at Extreme Heads. He had his new billet heads on his bench and man... they were amazing!! special shapes around the valve stems for greater flow, thicker exhaust ports for larger porting as you desire, etc etc etc... This was about 3-4 months ago and he said his first batch were sold out... They were not cheap. Sorry I have no pics and he has no web site. He says he doesn't need one and has too much business anyway... must be nice

Leave a msg... he will call you back.

Best regards,

Michael

Do a search on CMW heads, might be in the engine building or 930 sections. We discussed them about a year ago. The price isn't all too bad, but look at some of the photos of the CNC and make your own call.

Thats my understanding, as well.

Machined billet (6061 T6 & 7075 T6) are poor choices for cylinder head material.

Bill has been working on those for quite some time. He did the heads on my turbo engine. His new heads should be everything my heads are, but with brand new castings, cnc programs and improvments. Bill does some tricks on the Porsche heads that really takes them to a different level.

I could be wrong on the billet point. I was simply blinded by beauty They should be installed and running on someone's motor by now. Anyone?

Making a billet head can be done fairly inexpensively if done is some sort of quantity, say 4 motor sets (24 heads) at a min. With a little attention to detail and high quality machines they come out looking quite different from the CMW (CWM?) heads.....

I have looked into doing it and still may, but I am not sure of the market potential.

Cheers

When I worked at AutoThority way back in the day, we did some dyno testing of the CMW heads, both by themselves and with other modifications. The gains were VERY impressive both ways. I don't remember the numbers, but the gains were huge and at pretty much all RPM. At the top end they just screamed.

We used to dyno test all sorts of aftermarket stuff on 3.2 Carreras and most of it didn't do much, but the CMW heads impressed the hell out of everyone.
