Error Codes for a 996
I recently drove my 996 triptronic to the gas station and filled it up. When I attempted to start my car it was dead. After towing it to my mechanic the fault codes were as follows... P0740 & P1770. What could have caused this? I know what they mean but are there any fixes for the problem. I crawled to the station and it was in drive not using the shifting mechanism.
Thank you for any suggestions. |

P0740 is Torque converter clutch fault...possible bad torque converter
P1770 is a manufacture specific code that I don't have any info on but it has to do with the transmission |

It seems that both errors relate to the transmission. AND...it seems that likely one issue, IE one sensor fault would trigger both codes. Did anything happen at the gas station that is unusual?
Maybe a better idea of the order of events would help? When did you "crawl" and when did you drive? What sequence? What do you mean by "dead"? I have to laugh! I am guilty, too. Imagine a foreigner reading the description with limited knowledge of slang English? They would definitely get the wrong idea. :D Let us know more info. I suspect it is something minor, but am no expert. Doug |
