I only ask because I changed oil over weekend and I am certain that I didn't put the dam oil strainer cover on the same way it was before and now it's leaking. I read "somewhere" not to tighten the nuts too tight as it can get torqued and leak. Apparently there was no instruction to remember exactly how it came off so as to prevent same.
I want to take it off and put it back how I vaguely remember it being but I don't want to have the same Valdezesque oil spill that I had over weekend. Thanks for the help and yes I put both gaskets on screen. Joe 1968 |

Mine always has 2-3 quarts in it when I change the oil. More if I let it sit awhile before draining it.

When you reinstall the cover, put a good bit of gasket maker like Permatex's Right Stuff or the similar Orange Stuff from Wurth. (They both come in a bottle similar to a hair mousse can) Put it on both sides of both paper gaskets. I had the same problem as you after I installed with no sealer and new nylock nuts. I removed and reinstalled with sealer...no leaks now!
