Sure is, I have spent the last few days trying to figure out if 16x7's will fit in the rear of a 914.

Good job. Your x E is still running like a top, when ever it gets driven.:eek:SmileWavy

Can you give me some info about installing the older vent controls?

Do the existing cables simply connect into the older unit?

Thanks

w21055 11-04-2009 04:12 AM

The cables hooked up front the same way the other one did. I did not have to get an older unit, just the older controls. Pretty simple once they are routed to the the front trunk.I think I left my old control unit in so I could see the routing and pulled the cables out afer I had the older unit installed.

I got a couple of PM's about pictures down on this thread. My old computer died and I may have lost most of them, but here are the ones that I can remember.

The only updates have been driving it, getting a spare Fuch, Porsche horn button and blacking out the exhaust so it does not stand out as much.

Long time bump. Went with S- Trim on the front. Anyone got a good set of rear S- Trim?

I will dig them out. I do have more current pics. Not much has changed. Been knee deep in another project this year.

Oh this thing. Was getting tired of how the 914 was going down hill so I decided to give it some attention and money. Had to do some rust repair and did a bare metal respray. The goal on this project was to do the entire job in my garage. I was able to accomplish that with some help from some friends Scott H (1968Caymen) was willing to help on the rust repair and I estimate we had about 40 hrs when you include all the prep, fab and grinding in it. I took it off the road on 5-6-2011 and filled it up tonight, so exactly 4 months. I would say prep work for paint was about 140 hrs.Spent two weekends of 14 hr days blocksanding alone. Alot of late week nights and 40hr weekends to get this much accomplished in 4 months. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315354881.jpg

Window trim.......

I changed the window trim on my SC from black to polished for the same reason.....I believe that it looks better on a dark colored car. I removed the trim from the car, stripped the anodizing off and used a buffer wheel mounted on a bench grinder motor to polish the aluminum. Doing so took a while, but was worth the effort. I also decided to delete the rocker covers. Since the a/c lines and the oil lines are now visible, I painted them black so that they would blend into the background better. Some pics............

Good luck with your project!

w21055 09-10-2011 08:32 AM

Fred,

Yeah I stripped the trim when it was Red. When I backdated it I had to buy pop outs anyway and had everything chromed when I got them.

Here is the most current pic I have of it now.

Not sure i know what your are talking about. That is how it came and that is how it will stay. I actually like the look, guess that is why it is in my garage and not yours.

Elombard 09-10-2011 11:40 AM

Cool, I like the GT front bumper a lot but its more of a race car look I suppose.

w21055 09-10-2011 11:43 AM

I gave away a GT bumper, if that gives you any idea what I think of those. I did toy with going without the tits and/or chrome but in the end thought it made it look longer, plus it is cheaper to bolt parts you already have back on/

w21055 01-16-2012 02:22 PM

Was just looking through this. Funny how much bigger my son is now(he is 16 now and was 13 then) No way he could fit in the trunk now. He has been helping me on the newest project.
