Looks marvelous. Cant wait until you drop the suspension and detail all the pices when yo put it back with bronze ER bushings and bigger Tbarz...the slippery slope. I will come buy one evening next week I want to put an eye on the seat situation and see if I can think of any options. The carpet looks great, you obviously figured out the rear qtrs.

w21055 01-26-2009 08:42 AM

Thanks Erik. The seats look like they can go down a bit if the right bracket was used.
Down to little processes now, like finding tiny screws and what not. Adjusted the ride height, painted the fender wells and used por 15 for the rear end of the car. Couple of pics. Now if the chrome gets here tomorrow, I could get it ready for the weekend.

I sprayed the fender wells and brushed the part above the muffler. Basically if I was scared of over spray I brushed.

So the chrome did make it Wed. I had an extra set of latches done in hopes of selling them but one of the hinge parts broke during assembly so good thing I had an extra set, sucks I have as much in one set now.
One thing about re chroming, none of the small parts want to go back together easily. The door handles were not chrome to begin with and the trigger part was very tight, I had to file the parts down a decent amount for them to fit again.

Sunday at the Avenues is a possibility, I did see that the weather men are calling for rain now on Sunday.

A couple of pics of the chrome and with the passenger side done minus graphics.

So my goal was to have it ready to roll by the first weekend in Feb. I sorta made it. There are plenty of small things that need to be fixed.

One thing that sucks is I left my other 911 outside for a couple of nights so we could have plenty of room and today when I went to pull it in the dash now has a 6 inch crack in it. I guess below freezing is worse for them than 90 + weather, oh well when this one is at a stopping point the other one will get a dash. This may give me the shot at adding an older dash in this one.

Here it is at the monthly drive in-

I used a Finberglass hood that has the short hood frame and kept the front bulkhead the same.. Need long and skinny fingers to release it though. TRE sells that type of hood.

I have fixed the door problem, I was trying to tuck the pop out gasket behind the door gasket, if you let it sit there there is no problem.

I have several small things to fix, it has horrible wind noise and all gaskets were replaced so I need to figure out what is going on with that.

I had to go and check if mine is still in the garage

Stealing would have been cheaper. Yours looks very good, but it should still be in the garage.

Hey w21055,

I know it's a small thing, and in no way makes your car any less awesome, but why not change the front marker lights to Euro-style (with white sections)? The Carrera RS was never built for the US market, and the Euro lights add a little extra color to non-metallic cars. Plus, it's not a dead giveaway even when passing you on the road. Mostly though, I think the extra color would look good.

Kudos from one backdate owner to another.

looks great! that F-car looks a little close! I know it's backdated, but you should register it at the Plot! We need you!

Mike,
I looked at the Euro ones, but I thought that the all orange ones contrasted more. Once the graphics go on I may change my mind though.

ibmiked 02-03-2009 03:39 AM

Gotcha Phil.

What are your thoughts on the graphics? Since the RS matched the Fuchs with the side stripe, you're either disregarding that or possibly going with a silver stripe? I suggest you mess around with Photoshop and really explore your options. You have a chance to do something unique with this car. In this community it seems that a few cars truly stand out and gain a reputation. Others are considered 'just a rep'. Go for glory, you busted your a** so far.
