Gotcha Phil.

What are your thoughts on the graphics? Since the RS matched the Fuchs with the side stripe, you're either disregarding that or possibly going with a silver stripe? I suggest you mess around with Photoshop and really explore your options. You have a chance to do something unique with this car. In this community it seems that a few cars truly stand out and gain a reputation. Others are considered 'just a rep'. Go for glory, you busted your a** so far.

Yeah, what about a Mexico Blue stripe/graphic or something in that family... Probably look cool on your wheels too, IMHO... YMMVSmileWavy

I dont know how he could go wrong with the black graphics.

What about yellow or white....silver or grey might not be bad?

Hey Phil got any pics of the interior? I want to see how the retro seats and carpet all come together.

Hey Doug&Julie, the '88 911 in your signature is now my backdated '71. Don't you just love the online community?

:)

I do! :)

That's one that I'm sorry I let go. Of course, if I hadn't, it wouldn't be the beautiful machine it is now! :p

If I ever get enough $$$ together, I want to backdate my '74. Someday...

Thanks for the input guys, certainly has my head clicking.

Well it is certainly getting graphics and they are black, I thought about silver and pulled some of the stripe off before it went to paint (had silver on red) and I think black will work fine, plus I already have them.
The car goes back to the paint shop on wed for final buffing and then I will put the graphics on.
I will take some shots of the interior tonight.

Here are a couple of interior pics. i plan on doing the older style trim for the middle of the dash and possibly switching to a pre 73 dash.
Pretty much everything here except the gauges and center part are new or "new" to me.

Pictures were taken at night so they are a little crappy.

Thanks

I love creature conforts, but you HAVE TO hide the AC vent in the dash. ;)

Elombard 02-05-2009 04:59 PM

Looks fab, sporty and retro. I was looking at mine today and thinking about pulling the lighter, rear window defrost (not hooked up) and that other switch and plugging them some how.

I think the seats look great and for the price- untouchable.

SCWDP911 02-06-2009 04:13 AM

+1 on the seats. Love them...

It's is obviously your car, but man, almost everyone does black or silver (graphics)... be brave young warrior... live on the edge a bit...:D

Color not important but rust is. Would want one that is rust free.
Would buy a complete running one if within my budget.

Just looking. I wanted a pre 73 narrow body for a while and looked at several but they were all rusted in the front or too pricey for my needs. Thought I might find a mid year and weld on some turn signals and away we go with another project. A 914 has been in my mind as next, but I can not find one that is not rusted.

Carpet question

Sorry for basic questions but couldn't find the answer in the thread....

First of all I love the look of those carpets....

Where's the carpet is from?
Would love the same but still have rear seats - is that possible?
Is that perlon?

many thanks

Thanks. It is a RS kit from Appbiz, door panels came from Bob as well. I am pretty sure you can put the rear seats back in with this set up, you woudl just have to cut openings for the seat belts.

Phil

Thanks for the quick reply

Had a look at the Appbiz web-site...

Are yours the sliverknit or perlon option? Black or Charcoal?

w21055 02-22-2009 03:16 PM

I ordered Charcoal for the carpet, it was the light weight kit that Bob sells.
Got the car back and added the side scripts. Will have to wait on the bumper graphics as I want a solid stripe up front.

WOW ...Wow.

What was up with the Motor?

w21055 02-22-2009 04:31 PM

The fuse for the interior lights were removed, thanks to John Walker it was noted that it also powered up the Lambda computer under the passenger seat. SO a nickel fuse had the car down all week.

911 tweaks 02-22-2009 05:31 PM

now it makes sense as they probably had~wanted to have the door(s) open as working on the car and did not want to kill the battery is why they took out the fuse... maybe could not figure out how to remove the interior bulb, thus, the fuse pulled??
a drag to say the least...

richard003@wind 02-23-2009 06:27 PM

I am glad to see that you have solved the motor problem. I would have not thought of the dome light having anything to do with the motor. That is what I love about this site, live and learn. Car looks great! See you later, Richard
