Gents,
The culprit here is almost certainly the Idle Stabilizer Valve. This part is very easily replaced, and costs a little over $100 in the U.S. This is a very common problem. I (as well as other Carrera owners I know) experienced the same thing, and it went away after replacement of the Idle Stabilizer Valve.

Mine does the same. It doesn't seem to matter what ambient temp it is. The car starts at a fast idle about 30 secs. later RPMS drop and motor stubbles alittle. Give it some gas and rough idle smoothes out. The problems only occurs if the car is totally cooled down. Drive it and enjoy.

I don't start mine much in the winter here in PA, but when I have started it, I DON'T have the idle problem described. At startup, it shoots up to about 1800 rpm (only on v cold days) for about 3 seconds, then goes down to a steady, non oscillating idle. If I did have the problem you guys were describing, I would suspect the air bypass valve is gunked up. Would also check resistance on it. If resistance was okay, I'd remove it and attempt to clean it.

jlex.

No probs with my ī86 3.2 either!

Although itīs in "dry summer-use only" and always "cold-started" in the heated garage.
