Sunday drive pix

So it was all sunny and warm when I left the house but then of course it got cloudy and gray. Pretty in its own way, so no major disappointments. Found a great burger joint, a great road that I had never been on before, and a lake that I didn't even know existed so it was a success all in all. Did my best with the point and shoot but the autofocus was easily confused. Reason number 63 to get a DSLR.

Nice looking Carrera 4. What a great way to spend a day. This is one of the great functions of owning a Porsche. Every drive can turn into an adventure.

The 4th pic looks like a Porsche advertisment.
Nice job and nice Carrera 4.

Thanks all for the kind words. It was a nice escape from the day-to-day. The dam is located in the shadow of Mt. Tam halfway between Fairfax and the coast, in Marin County. It's called Alpine Lake.

Nice pics and nice car... So you prefer your 964 over the 993? Just wondering because I noticed the 993 for sale. Both beauty's though.

when my friend lived in mill valley, we used to ride around there. fun road dropping down to the dam. many other nice roads in the area. i also went for a drive in the east bay hills. fun roads but the scenery is not as nice. the hills are still brown and dreary.

all things being equal the 993 is a better car (duh), however, this 964 is an exceptionally fine example and has a lot of emotional significance because my dad bought it new and it was his only car for a long time, so my brother and i practically grew up in it. we took it on family ski trips (it is AWD after all!), vacations etc. no accidents, no stories, just a 1-owner enthusiast owned car. it's now been repainted, had the engine done, tastefully upgraded and generally set up perfectly. it actually drives better than the 993 and really is a super sweet car that just feels right, whole, complete, solid etc. in a way that not even all 911's do. the 993 is nice but it's just not the same.

yea, the east bay hills are my back yard (skyline blvd, redwood rd, pinhurst etc.) so i've gotten to know them well. great roads but you are right, the scenery is just not as nice.

thanks, i really liked how it turned out. i initially tried to hold the camera but the light was too low and it wanted to use the flash, so i put it on the ground to keep it steady. ultimately that made for a more interesting picture...kinda reminds me of a Porsche...its function before form makes it beautiful. only thing is that it chose to focus on some random point on the ground instead of the car...oh well, for a point and shoot, it's a good camera.

it's highway 1 north of the golden gate, by stinson beach, and then cutting in away from the coast towards fairfax.

wow they are very similar. you have the 993 cup wheels and the elephant mirrors that my car came with before being converted to teardrops. what color is that? it is darker, no?
