Powdercoat Sump Plate?
Car: '82 SC
My coater expressed some concern about the sump plate. Heat & oil etc etc. He asked me about temps and told him 220 F max, but I'm not sure. I've filed the plate down to trim the high spots and I think it might be coated already, or painted really well ![]() Best regards, Michael

New Rule: Never powdercoat a part where 2 surfaces will touch. Powder turns back into powder. If you are doing the exterior only, you should be fine. My brother owned a PC company so I went crazy. All of the parts that touched wore out and some of them caused failures, like the wheel hats, ruining bearings. My rims discolored as soon as the rim cleaner hit them. The rockers looked great and never chipped. PC has it's place.
