RFNG'S Turbo Kit

For those of you that wondered what ever happened to rfng's turbo kit. Well the interest just wasn't that great, and between work and the unreliable suppliers it just wasn't feasible to sell a kit, which would require support. I sold the SC a 2 or 3 years ago, but kept my carrera, I offered the original prototype for sale, but there were no takers, I still have a bunch of parts left over like a msd btm, regulators. After looking at all the parts sit in my closet for the last 2 or 3 years, I decided I would put it to good use in my carrera. Here's the SC's Here's a look at the rough install, this time its intercooled And here is the Carrera's I even got the intercooler to fit under a stock lid. I am so glad to see your efforts applied to your cars, boost away.... You inspired a few of us to push ahead and do it ourselves, we learned a lot from this and were able to put together our own systems over time. I know your efforts to supply a kit were sincere, but I fully understand how difficult is is to do it. Thanks for you inspiration.

I wonder what it's like to drive a pull through AFM one and a blown through AFM car back to back. I imagine there's a big difference?

No, difference, I just didn't want the heat and oil fumes going through the AFM, it eats them up and it has an air temperature sensor.

(I'm looking for possibilities to i/c my 77 930 and keep the stock lid) thanks Bill K

I tried to pick up where you left off and you were right lots of guys spouting off saying they wanted it until it came time. so I folded up that project with 4 sales and 5 kits ever made.. oh well it was fun anyhow

Of the several "turbo install" threads, I decided to post this announcement here since most people on Pelican knew him from his many posts on turbocharging a 911. It is with great sorrow that Richard Fong (aka rfng) passed away recently. He was my cousin with a great heart, a love of fast cars and an unsatiable urge to tinker. He died a couple of weeks ago ..... of a heart attack. He was only 44. What a shocker. He left his loving mom, 3 sisters, several nephews and nieces in addition to his cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and associates. He was also a lawyer, but perhaps atypical of the stereotype - he would freely offer legal advice on a personal basis because he wanted to help others and was a devoted advocate for his clients no matter their place in society - as it should be. He also taught college level law and was a loyal and good friend to those who knew him. I thought you guys here should know. Sherwood

Sherwood, My heartfelt sympathies go out to your family for your loss. I was always enthralled at Richards technical abilities and his helpfulness about questions on his project. 2008 has been a year of great loss to this community. Mark
