Anyone know why a shop would replace the cams of a 87 Carrera 3.2 with 3.6 cams. Is that a performance upgrade? Do they work OK? Were the 3.2 cams bad? Are the 3.6 cams better?

The 964 3.6 cams are a performance upgrade for a 3.2 engine. From what I have heard with 964 cams the 3.2 develops significantly more power (read torque) and the engine wants to keep pulling past 6500. They work great - so do the stock 3.2 cams. The stock 3.2 rod bolts (when used with some aftermarket chips and/or with insufficient oil cooling) and some valve guides on 87-88 Carreras are the only weak link in the 3.2 engine that I know of.
