NEED HELP WITH 959

Hi,
I've finally gotten a chance to start taking apart the 959 to figure out what the damm noise it when I go around turns. I think I found some major rust! My mom is not too happy because this is taking up room on the Lanei. I am thinking of either parting it out or grafting a '73 front clip on. Any experiences or thoughts appreciated.

Oh, this is good.

I think the problem might be the plastic orange plugs on your make-believe intercoolers (what are those anyway? spraypainted plastic jugs?) Those plugs should actually be replaced with 23 Watt light-bulbs.

Oh and you might consider putting rear wheels and tires on the rear transaxle when you take turns. You might be surprised to find how much quieter it will be.

Your mom is right.
The Lanai is for bar-b-que's and other social gatherings, not rusty old cars!

A fiberglass slantnose kit would be a good start. Then you should drill holes in that heavy back section and wing -- that's what the racers do. But I think your real problem is the six-cylinder engine -- I've heard that swapping in a VTEC or a V8 is really the only way to make those 959s drivable.

These old beaters can really come alive with a body kit and some imagination. Never be afraid to cut metal. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif

I'm with Jack on this one.

However, why spend $5k on a used Vtec when you can spend $2k on a regular Civic engine and $1.25 on the Vtec sticker!

And I was going to offer you copies of pages from my original factory 959 workshop manual.........really! I do have one.

What are you talking about? Rusty cars belong on the lanai, no matter what moms say!
