Fore/Aft adjustment of shift coupler?
I read something about this while researching.
Nothing in my Bentley Manual about it. What is this and how is it done?

If you loosen the set screw on the shift coupler between the seats yoou can adjust the reach of the shifter. It won't make the throws any shorter but for instance, you can put second gear a bit closer/further to tailor the reach for you. You still need to be able to engage all of the gears, including reverse so be careful how much you move it.
Hope this helps.

actually I think it's the clamp bolt on the shifter rod, not the set screw.
Sorry to pick nits, just wanted to point that out. Take the cover off of the center tunnel in front of the rear seats. It's a 13mm socket and a 13mm box wrench. Keep the wrenches in the car until you have a chance to test drive it and re-check tightness. |
