Alternator air duct (hub extension) fix
As I was trying to put the alternator back in, the air duct that is bolted on the back lost one of its two fins which was cracked. I searched in the catalog and found that a new one costs almost $300.
I thus improvised a way to stick the fin back on in a way that would ensure it would stay on. Here are some pix of the result: You can see the crack where the fin broke off: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203941666.jpg other side: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203941788.jpg inside: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203941816.jpg I added some super glue in the crack for good measure. |
Did you super glue the nuts on as well? If they come off you are probably fine, but a pain to have to re-attach the fin. Just a suggestion, but perhaps snap rivets may be a better choice here.

Yes, you're right Michael. I'll use rivets the next time I go in there. Thx for the suggestion.
