'71 sway bar hitting strut housing

I noticed that the factory through the tank sway bar had shifted over to the drivers side. It was starting to bump into the strut housing. I was able to get the thing centered again, but not sure why it did this. Anyone else ever run into this?

Usually a sign of worn bushings. The bar should not move back and forth when secured.
