Looks like Arena Red to me.

bpp944 02-25-2008 05:28 PM

'89-93 Carrera 2/4 color options (in Red) are;

Standard Color:
G1 Guards Red
G4 Rubystone Red

Optional Color:
G7 Coral Red Metallic
52 Cassis Red Metallic
82H Coral Red

Special Wishes;
Any damn color you want

ZAMIRZ 02-25-2008 05:38 PM

No, definitely not arena red, that color is lighter and has more purple in it.

Looks a lot like this paint-to-sample burgundy metallic

There's also 81L velvet red.

i've seen the above color called amethyst before and it actually looks alright...for being purple and all. i believe the code is 38A or F9.

Flieger 02-25-2008 08:16 PM

Weinrot? (wine red?)

bpp944 02-26-2008 02:48 AM

the '81L velvet red is an '88-89 carrera color.

bpp944 02-26-2008 02:53 AM

I over looked this one. 38A Amethyst Metallic, as seen on this one for sale http://www.automobilemag.com/classifieds/14/1991/porsche/911/carrera/washington/bellevue/80406109/32/index.html

it was used on 964's too. It was one of the the press introduction colors (along with white) when the Carrera 4 first came out. See the cover of the Feb 1989 issue of Automobile.

Well, I'm sold. Whatever color it is, that will be the color of my next 911.

Jay Laifman 02-26-2008 11:54 AM

PSportoVeloce,

I was using the Porsche Red book as a point of reference, it's entirely possible that they (Porsche) had more "Reds" than the ones I listed. ;o)

Nice Car, BTW!
