speed control amp Question

I sent my cruise amp in for repair to Beckman Technologies and they said it was bad. They sent me a reconditioned unit.My Question is does it have to be mounted in order to work?
I plugged it in with out bolting it back in and it does not work.what's up?

If the speed control worked before, but does not work now - and you changed nothing else, the I'd complain to Beckman Technologies. If the speed control did not work before, than maybe another component is also bad. When amplifiers go bad, they often work, but they let the speed erode.

Take a look at the cruise control cable (in the engine compt.) Make sure it is not cut/broken. Sometimes when the cc.amp goes bad the owner will cut the cable to keep the motor from revvvvving on it's own.

don't forget the micro-switch in the tunnel that rides on the clutch cable lever. if it popped off or the lever doesn't work it, there will be no cruise. can you hear the cruise brain click when you put the switch thru it's paces?

My troubleshooting at the amp connection indicated that the clutch switch is bad. Could you explain exactly where it is and how to get to it? I assume it is near the pedal, but I have not had a chance to get in there yet.

My system does not make any clicking sounds when switched at the lever. Could this also indicate the clutch switch is bad?

Thanks,

Olivier
