Factory anondized Fuchs?!
A friend of mine has a set of Fuchs wheels, size 16x6 and 16x7, like would come on a 3.2L Carrera. They have silver centers, and he was telling me that they are factory anodized wheels, not painted. He was mentioning that they are very rare and very valuable.
The lips are the same finish as any other Fuchs wheel, and the centers are a true silver. Like the color of Zermatt Silver. I mentioned them to a fellow Porsche junkie the other day, who told me he had never heard of such a thing. Did factory-anodized Fuchs wheels exist in the 1980's? Did they EVER exist? If so, are they rare and valuable, or are they just like any other wheel?

All the Fuchs wheels had received this factory treatment to preserve forged alloy from oxydation when not painted.
When you see a Fuchs polished , think it's a lot of work and weekly one to save them from dirt and oxydation. Re-anodisation is possible . But not so easy to find someone , i talk about France. The way to preserve this sort of wheel is preventing all the acid attacks : ph must be neutral when using washing shampoo on Fuchs. It's generaly noticied on the bottle. If you drive on roads with salt , wash the wheels (and even the car !) if possible when you come back from your driving escape. Last edited by cdrik915; 02-26-2008 at 11:31 AM.. |
