I agree, the prices really went up very quickly and I do not actually think the car was getting any better, but a lot of stuff was just becoming standard equipment.
I originally started looking at a few '86 cabs but found the '89 better equip for just 2-4K more...

Here is a clip I found on the internet:

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?year=1989&make=Porsche&model=911& trimid=-1

1989 Porsche 911
Kelley Blue Book Price $17,350 - $40,000

Pricing (MSRP)
Carrera coupe $51,205
Targa $52,435
Carrera Cabriolet $59,200

Do the PCA certificates also include a window sticker? If so, I am interested as mine is long gone.

I don't think so. To qoute the form from PCNA.

"This valuable document includes your vehicles original factory-installed options, exterior and interior color, engine number and transmission number, production completion date (Birth Date) if available and manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) if available."

You do save $10.00 for being a PCA member though.

Yeah, I saw that. But it also says

" For 1979 or older models, if you provide a legible copy of the original Monroney Label (Window Sticker), you will save $10.00 off the prices listed."

So that sort of indicates that for the extra $10 bucks you do get the window sticker.

I think my 1966 was about $12,000.

Here is one you won't see every day:

<img src = http://wl.filegenie.com/~mncnc/windowsticker.jpg>
And for fun.........65 followed by 66 prices:
<img src = http://wl.filegenie.com/~mncnc/65and66prices.jpg>
67 prices:
<img src=http://wl.filegenie.com/~mncnc/67prices.jpg>
68 went up mid year:

...and then it gets complicated.

Yes, it does. Different prices for East coast and West, many different models, conflicting data..... I started to do a spreadsheet for the original prices on all the long-hood cars and there seemed to be too many problems with the numbers to trust most published data. I don't have time right now to do any original research. This one will end up on the back burner...

RWebb:

Here are the specific costs regarding my 1970 911S Targa. The original owner of the car picked it up in Germany on 22 Feb 1970. Dollar figures were his calculations, as the invoice is in DM. His dollar conversion was based on a conversion rate of 1 dollar = 3.643 deutsche mark, which was the exchange rate as of 1 April 1970.

1970 911S Targa = $7,686
Leather Seats = $124
CO2 - US Equipment = $172
Blaupunkt Frankfurt = $144
Tinted Glass = $41
11% German sales tax = $902.

Is there a chance that the $15K Lamborghini is $15K Canadian? Remember back then when US currency was at a huge premium to Canadian currency.

RWebb 02-29-2008 10:19 AM

thx - I decide to leave out the S and etc. and just graph the 'regular' model(s) to make it easier.

any idea what the non-S 911 was in 1970?

also I was unable to read or even to download and enlarge to readable size the early prices posted up above. Can the poster type those in?
