Post Turbo Engine...What is this?

What is the item circled on the right side of the engine bay of this RUF Turbo engine (oddly enough, looks like an Andial intercooler).

What are your thoughts on the air box (or lack of) setup?

David

It looks like some sort of cover for the ignition units? Maybe a cover for some Electromotive’s. I had a very similar setup when I purchased my car, even the same triangle Edelbrock air filter.

I would have to say the car isn't a real RUF. The intercooler isn't RUF, nor do I see the standard RUF transmission sticker.

That's the new accessory hot plate for frying eggs on the PCA outings this year. You are supposed to cast your ballot, via e-mail, for "Club Designated Cook". Seems that some of the varsity members are starting to request more rest stops. Each elected official of the new post gets one of these setups on their car.

I have seen that aftemarket triangle filter used on a couple of 930s. I can only assume that it allows enough air flow for the needs of the enhanced engines it was on. Anyone know for sure?

David - could you email me some info on your single fuel pump set-up for 930 conversions? I'd appreciate it. This is the final issue that I am tackling. Everything else has fallen into place and it looks like the swap may be pulled off some time in June. I am very excited!

Has to be the ignition system. There are plug wires coming from the underside, and there is the "lightning bolt" warning sticker on the top. Could be a "flux capacitor", though.

Question

I looked at the auction this pic is taken from. Is that really a RUF car? The wheels are definately not RUF. The hood has a Porsche Badge and a RUF sticker right below it? The rear lid has a "Turbo" emblem and a sticker that says "Twin Plug" underneath. The front 1/4 panels also have the RUF sticker...? I wasn't aware that RUF used stickers in the late 80's.

Wink

If it's a real RUF, they removed every RUF part and replaced it. :-) Where is the RUF intercooler, wheels, steering wheel, rear badge, transmission, transmission sticker, RUF gauges... I could go on and on.

The only time RUF used stickers was on the Yellow Bird below the side blinkers.
