Help on refurbishing power window motors

Some time ago, a member mentioned that after tearing their early motors down, cleaning, and using lithium grease, the windows worked again like the guillotines again.

What I am looking for is more of a detailed 'how to'. If there is a way to access the motors without removing the window frames and doing a complete door disassembly, there will be bonus points. Once I get to the motors, I am relatively sure I will be able to figure out how to get them apart - unless there are rivets involved (grrrr).
