Well today was kinda a bummer. Day started out as a nice day, good weather, in the 80's, but wind gusting to about 30mph. Went to Subway to get a sandwich, made sure I parked in a good end spot. When I came out I noticed a big piece of cardboard (probably 3ft x 4ft) about twenty or thirty feet from where I parked. It was flying across the parking lot. At that time I thought, that thing could do some damage. But anyway didn't think too much about it.
A couple of hours later I was stopped in a parking lot and I noticed what I thought was a couple of oil or grease smears on the front trunk lid. Upon closer inspection they were scratches and upon even closer inspection there were about twenty scratches going from the right headlight across the trunk over to the left side. It made me sick to my stomach. I know it was that piece of cardboard. I bet it had those big staples in it. So, anyway when I got home I tried polishing them out but they are way to deep. Not sure what to do at this point. I changed insurance companies about a month ago so I really don't want to file anything. I don't really want to spend $5k and get the entire car painted. I am wondering about getting the front clip painted. Anybody got any great ideas? Thanks, Jim '84 slate blue (in most places) 911 |

Thanks Tim for your advice.
On a more serious note - these scratches are 2 or 3 inches long and deep. What can a detail shop do with those? Jim |

Dont ever eat at subway!
I had lunch at one on Thursday and got food poisioning, now I know how the fat guy lost all that weight ![]() On the paint issue, call your local high end dealer and find out who they use for small paint repairs, there are guys around that have a complete color match system in their vans and can do majic touch ups at a fraction of the cost to painting the whole front clip. They can also color sand the area to blend the paint with the repair. Good luck. GB83SC |

a lot of paint suppliers have a laser scanner that analyzes your paint for a perfect match.
