While I was snapping pictures, I got a clearer look at the OG Racing cooling ducts for the front brakes:
![]() I also got a better look at the 86 exhaust, mated to a custom-fabricated muffler system: ![]() Here's another view: ![]() ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe jackolsen@mediaone.net [This message has been edited by JackOlsen (edited 04-23-2001).] |

Jack, I did not realize you were using a stock exhaust system from a Carerra.
Dumb question: Isn't that hurting your performance? I mean if going to SSI's and a better muffler gives almost 10% HP boost to a 3.0, wouldn't the stock Heat exchangers be more of a restriction to your larger displacement engine? As a side note, what do you think of your Flowmaster? Tom 82 911 SC Coupe |

Tom, the narrower pipes in the Carrera exhaust cost me about 10 hp on the top end, but give me a better torque line in the mid and low range of the power band (at least, that's how it's been explained to me). For most of the driving I do, this seems to make the most sense. If the car were exclusively used on big tracks, I'd get 1-7/8-inch headers, and enjoy a hp bonus when the engine was wide open (but lose some torque down below).
The Flowmaster sounds really low and throaty, which I like (but not booming like a B&B). I set off the occasional car alarm, but I don't mind! ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe jackolsen@mediaone.net [This message has been edited by JackOlsen (edited 04-23-2001).] |
