Ok while in the process of painting my 69 912 I was planning to install a new "S" Type front spoiler I bought from Tweeks. But I got the spoiler primered and ready to put on and I just can't figure out anyway to make it fit the car!
But I have also came to belive that the car may have had a different front clip installed and that it may be from an earlier car of some sort because, the brake fluid resivoir is on the passenger side and also I have found a few welds up around the windsheild area. But my question is will an "S" front spoiler the pre-69 cars? Thanks |

I run a fiberglass S spoiler on my 68 912 and it bolted up just fine. The spoiler came with a pair of brackets towards the front that take a long bolts to attach and some creativity to space correctly. And the stock brackets under the headlights bolted up fine.

I have a fiberglass "S" bumper on my '69. Even discriminating eyes can't tell it from steel.
Heads up ... handling is better in cross winds but worse over 60 mph. Makes sense if you think about it. The spoiler pushes down the front, which decreases the front end float in cross winds. However, the same front end push destabilizes the rear end, making it feel loose at speed. Your call. I will probably go with a ducktail eventually to solve the problem permanently. I too am in the process of installing a s spoiler on an early car. I have learned that the 69 and on cars have dual battery trays and the spoiler mounts on both sides via 2 bolts per side that come through the body behind the batteries. On your car you have brackets on each side that run horizontal bolting to the sides of the tub. I belive this is correct. I have the short brackets and intend to try to drill holes and use long shimmed bolts as outlined in the above post. I have read in advertisements that this spoiler will work on pre-69 cars by bending the brackets. My question is do you bend the long stock brackets or the short 69 and newer brackets. I intend to delve into this at length this weekend. but in answer to your question I do not believe your front clip has been changed. I will post my results and is you have any suggestions or questions post away. I hope this helps in your quest for the S look.
