Help! Replacing car script.
 

I'm trying to take the script off the back of my Boxster S and put a new one on. After removing the old one there is a bunch of residue or sticky matter left behind from the previous script. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to safely remove the residue without harming the paint? Thanks, Chris.:confused:

If it's still gummy, you can push on it and rub it off with your thumb. It just rolls up into a ball...

If it's hardened, you want to soften it with some adhesive remover first. The high-tech way to go is with a rubber wheel (looks like a big eraser). You'll need pneumatics for the high speed. I used to remove emblems on Lexuses many years ago and it never harmed the paint. If you're nervous or don't have the tools, go to a good detailing shop so they can remove the backing.

I removed the gummy stuff with some HD Cleanse made my Zymol. You can remove most of it with soap and water and a hairdryer. Stay away from abrasives

I've removed gummy residue from a number of things using denatured alcohol. It takes a bit of elbow grease, but hasn't harmed a finish yet, even on plastic. Actually it might not be strong enough for your stuff.

would you belive WD40?

even worked on some dried up duct tape residue. make sure your give it a good wash and wax after.

results may vary...not sure if it is clear coat safe.
