912 engine lid on 911?

Will a 912 engine lid fit on a 83 SC? Probably not, but thought I would ask...

I have a small dent on my sc lid, from previous owner closing lid too hard. Not sure how to get the dent out. Anyone have experience with this? The dentless guys seem hesitant.

Thanks!

Wade Skeels

I am pretty sure the 912 lisd would fit, but wouldn't be right. Are you talking about a 912E from '76? That would be a direct fit. The older ones had a bar through the middle of the grill area and would not look correct. Also, the '60s 912 had a chrome grill that was quite a bit different than the black SC grill.

Yes, it will physically fit, however...

912 had a watershield that may not work.

SC have A/C? Might not work.

Update: Just looked, the rear condenser attaches to the hinges, with a bracket in the bottom center of the lid. There are rubber brackets on each side to cushion it from rubbing on the lid.

The condenser may rub on the center rib of the lid...

Not very many of the 912 watershields survived to now. If you have one, I would be interested in getting it! They come off with a screwdriver in about 3 minutes.

A/C is a good point I didn't think about.

I am fairly certain it will bolt up if you unscrew the watershield. There are tons of watershields out there, just look at this forum and ebay! I would still preserve or sell it though!
