Has John gone "under ground"? Sent him a couple of e-mails during the last 4 week No replies yet??

I have a broken camshaft!! HELP

kenikh 07-21-2008 08:41 AM

No issues here. I have been in regular contact with him on 3 separate sets of cams over the last 2 weeks. I usually get an email back within an hour of every one I send. Are you using a web mail account? Those can get thrown in to the spam bucket.

Funny you should ask, I'm having problems getting answers back by email as well.

I prefer e-mail as I live in Norway.

Still no answer from Camgrinder. Anyone lives near Camgrinders Workshop? Maybe he is on holliday?

OldTee 08-11-2008 06:34 AM

This is very exasperating. You just don't know what to do. I call two or three times a day and leave one message a day on his answering machine. Doesn't return call or answer my emails for status. He has my cams and rockers. I can be patient if I know I am on the list but for the moment my project just sits and occupies otherwise usable space. It begs the question is excellent work that doesn't come when needed is better than less than perfect work that comes on time?

I am getting really disillusioned. The whole cam deal is starting to wear me down. The cam's where ordered 3. dec. 2007. When they finally arrived the right camshaft where broken. I have now been trying to get a new replacement camshaft for nearly 3 months. We have agreed on how to solve the "broken camshaft deal", but nothing happens.......... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/huil.gif

Maybe I should just buy from Elgin and save the headache?

Can anybody tell what it costs for Dougherty to weld and regrind a set of cams? I understand my mileage may vary, but for rough comparison.

webcam is quick. why continue with the headaches.

I hate to see this happen to any businessman. I do believe he has a website and he should at least post the situation there. I dealt one time with John and the results were excellent. I hope he comes returns to that expectation.

I have sent about 2 emails, and one PM( i think) and no response at all, I am glad he does not have my cams as hostage!

madpcar 08-11-2008 06:59 PM

I have been trying to get in touch with him as well - I had 2 cams arrive broken - he had a spare and I supplies him another. a couple of months down the track and I have had no luck, if I right him off I'm down $$, 4 cams and 8 months. He does great work but ARRRRR ! Does anyone live near him ??

SCrescue 08-11-2008 09:43 PM

I'm in a quandary. I need to send my SC cams & rockers out for regrind, but after reading through all of this, I'm not anxious to have them sit in indefinite limbo. Is Webcam a viable enough alternative? Do they have a website with info on their services and how to contact? Thx

Mike...

Dimitri has been doing it a long, long time. I had John D. do some cams last year. He was very easy to deal with. I hope things work-out for him.

smestas 08-11-2008 10:23 PM

All of my dealings with "camgrinder" were great and the cams purchased are awesome. Although all of this was over a year ago.

MBEngineering 08-12-2008 12:34 AM

HI Just my 10peneth/10cent's, I have had no prob' with John's cams or delivery, and the end product works, did have a prob with Web cam and it cost me £100 ($
192.25) shipping on top of the total price to get cams that fit.!!

regards mike
