What's your most loathsome riceburner?
 

I cannot stand Eclipses, always a pest.

Are they zippy? One of the lame aspects of these rice burners is the variation in HP. There are some really doggy Eclipses out there, and then there are a few fast ones.

Just go ahead and bully the ones with fancy ornamentation and ignore the ones with pop. Remember, you're the man. They want to be you. They wish Mommy had gotten em a 911. But mommy didn't. Boo hoo.

My vote is for tricked out Civics with the loud exhaust, poorly installed ground effects, and *my favorite* super low profile tires that really show off the rear drum brakes.

My neighbor's kids have a ricey Civic and a ricey Prelude, but the kids are pretty nice and at least the Prelude can lay claims to being a sports car.

Anything with an exhaust that sounds like a leaf blower or a fart.

My personal favorites are the Civics and Neons with 10" tachometers and shift lights on the dash pillar.

Next comes the 14" plastic hubcaps that have plastic imitation drilled rotors hiding behind them - or the drums painted red.

I actually saw an old Chrysler K-car with a big Supra spoiler on the back. Now THAT's classy.

Hmm... I wonder if I can get one of those for my C2???

I especially like the ones painted in bright metallic colors with the huge spaceship looking bodykit. Doubly cool are the ones withthe body kit and the stickers of from all the aftermarket parts vendors.

I saw one yesterday with 17" wheels and ultra-low profile tires. A Brembo sticker was prominenetly displayed. A quick peek revealed tiny disks in the front and _drums_ in the back.

There are some very nice high performance Japanese cars(I own one) but some of the stuff I see rolling down the road just makes me shake my head in wonderment. Different strokes I guess...

LOL, the Nissan Sentra! when i had my Nissan Sentra i ripped on the car more than anyone i knew. it's most affectionate name we gave it was "the piece of crap". it was a fire-breathing japanese monster with zero to sixty times on the order of 20 seconds or so, if not more. i drove it like it was a Ferrari and it was pummeled to 10/10ths. i drifted around corners and broke the rear end loose more times than i can recall. the car hydroplaned so predictably that i could point to the 4 parts of my daily commute at which i could hydroplane the car, and the 2 points which i could catch air if there was no traffic. if you want to see my Nissan today, just buy a box of nails, or a roll of chicken wire. chances are it's in there somewhere.

i have some pictures of it i'll dig up. i think i've seen the pics of yours.

What's worse though, an actual "ricer" or a car that want's to be a ricer? My vote goes for the ford probe.

I had a guy at a tire shop tell me once "yea, I was thinking about getting a 911, then I drove the ford probe". I said "have you ever driven a 911?" "Well, no" he said "but my friend has one, and all he does is work on it every weekend". I just responded "that's too bad".

By the look on his face, he wasn't sure if I meant that it was too bad that his friend worked on his 911 all the time, or if he settled for the probe. I don't think it took him long to figure it out though... http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif

Hydroplaning is a function of tire design. A front wheel drive car with good tires will not hydroplane until at a much higher speed than a 911.
Neons regularly kick Porsche butt in competion.

At the risk of sounding snotty like the rest of you (heh) I want to include my two cents.

You see, I'm in Highschool and I get razzed all the time about my car. (especialy in its current state) The razzing about the accident I get used to, but the guys who give me **** for paying 9k for a car thatis 22 years old and that will need some work are the ones that really piss me off.

What would you say if someone said, "Are you stupid? You could have bought a nearly new neon or civic for that price!"

Or the guys in their 87 civics with $4000 stereos that can't wait to take me on when I get my car on the road... heh I'm laughing just thinking about them.

To make a long reply longer, I wanted to add, I really don't mind REAL ricers but its the ones that look rice and don't have any real mods under the hood that I can't stand... Posers....

Anyone here driven the S2000? No that is one very nice ricer

No - that would be the stereo and neon light effects kit competition in the parking lot of the A&P. Judging based on stereo output in decibels times ratio of the exhaust tip to the muffler outlet.

Jeff, i should have elaborated a bit more, sorry. My Nissan was OK until it was totalled THREE TIMES in 2 years! None of these were my fault (all were fault of other party). that car was just an accident magnet. anyways, after being totalled for the second time, i decided to put the cheapest tires on it with the lowest warranty while i looked for another car. i got some dirt cheap $20 tires to hold the car off until i got a replacement. in the months i had those tires on the Nissan, it would hydroplane really easily. i could control the hydroplaning quite well, as i got used to a car that did it. it's not much different from learning to control a 4-wheel drift. to control the hydroplaning, you go to a big stretch of farm road with a lot of runoff and try to hit the biggest puddles possible. when the front wheels float up a bit, you feather the accelerator and keep the car pointed in the direction you want it to go in. i would not do the controlled hydroplaning when there were other cars on the road, and the way i went to work, i was lucky if i passed 10 vehicles during the entire commute http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif

Neons kick Porsche butt in Topeka and any autocross you happen to come across on any given weekend.
Now don't get me wrong there are some very good Porsche drivers and most Porsches are faster than a stock Neon. The point is that most Porsche drivers are posers just like most ricers.

Oh yeah, that ugly hyundai hotrod is the worst. Makes my 914 look pretty. The way that thing - Tiburon it's called - looks and sounds, its a good thing it doesn't have a smell. (old bagpipe joke)
