Suspension parts for 1968 911
I'm almost ready to start putting the suspension on my car back together (it was all apart for paint) and have two questions about parts.
First, the rear spring plate bushings are in pretty bad shape. If I go by the PP listings, my only choices for replacement are either the hard plastic bushings (PB-356/PB-004) or the Elephant racing polybronze. According to the listing for the Neatrix spring plate bushings, they are only correct for 1969-1989. Has anyone tried to use the Neatrix bushings on a 1968? I had thought the 1968 had the same vulcanized setup as the later cars, just a shorter arm. Second, I wanted to replace the old tie rods with the turbo tie rods. In one PP listing, the turbo tie rod kit (TTK-930N) is listed as being correct for 1965-1973, and in another the same part number is listed as being correct for 1969-1989. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911E/POR_911E_SUSstr_pg1.htm#item2 http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911E/POR_911E_SUSprf_pg20.htm#item19 In the archives there was some discussion about the turbo rods being a bit too short for the SWB steering rack; someone else said they had been improved so as to work with both -- anyone know? Thanks, mike. |

Neatrix will fit on a '68. It is the '67 and earlier cars that have a different size inner bushing, and neatrix is a non-starter.
Regular turbo tie rod are too short for the SWB steering racks. I have extra long turbo tie rods specifically for the SWB racks. You can have pelican place the order through Elephant Racing.
