change engine mount bracket/cross bar without engine drop?
Need to change the engine mount bracket/cross bar (carrier/crossmember) as both were bent and the engine is now tied to the bracket with only one bolt. Worse, a bolt was broken and stuck in the engine case.:(
Has any one ever done this without completely dropping the engine? I'm hoping that it can be done with partial engine drop and probably also removal of the muffler. I intend to leave the broken bolt and tie the engine and bracket with three bolts only. The muffler was hit from underside and now hangs with the passenger side higher than the driver side, do I need to replace the muffler bracket? Any advice? |
You should have no problem replacing them with a partial drop.

Yeah, you just put a jack under the engine (with a piece of wood between) lift it up a bit, remove the bolts holding the engine mounts, and then the bolts mounting the engine to the crossbar, then you have to lower the engine until you can sneak the crossbar out. At least that was my experience-
