Help Please -- Dropped the Feeler Gage

I hate to introduce myself this way. I was working my way slowly through my first valve adjustment on my 3.2L, using the backside method. All was going well until I was finishing up the left bank of cylinders, and sliding the .0025" feeler between the cam and the rocker for the inlet of #2 cylinder. It slipped out of my fingers and dropped down past the camshaft somewhere. I can't see it, the magnet on my retrieval tool is too big to fit past the camshaft. I'll go see if I can find a smaller magnetic retrieval tool and go fishing. Any suggestions on other approaches would be much appreciated.

And the lesson learned is to tie a piece of fishing line to the go/no-go feeler gages before taking them anywhere near the engine.

Thanks.

Do you have the bottom valve cover off? You could probably see it from the bottom.

I had just finished putting the bottom valve cover back on. I'll go take it off again and see if I can spot it.

Tony, it was waiting for me when I pulled the bottom cover off. Thanks.
