1970 T - How to attach door handle

I have never seen the connection before, so now that I'm trying to attach the door release mechanism to the arm rest/door handle, I cannot figure it out.
Does anyone have any pictures of the orientation of the latch and the back of the armrest, so that I can compare to mine?
Thanks in advance, Rob

OK - so no pictures I guess...
How about a quick up or down response to this question -
On a 1970 T, does the door latch mechanism (the part that eventually mates with the door handle in the armrest) point up, or down?

If you're asking about the piece that protrudes from the door into the rear of the armrest/handle - then it points down (the ball at the end is on the tip that faces down).

Does that answer your question? Sorry no pic's at this moment.

Cool - that helps a lot.
Second question - there is a second ball attached to the door handle in the arm rest. This ball is attached to a plastic rotating piece with a female end - does this plastic piece attach directly to ball that points down on the door, or is there another piece that I'm missing?

Unfortunately, I'm not ready to attach all the door pieces yet on mine and they are somewhere in a box (tough times ahead). What I can tell you is that ultimately, the inner handle will be attached to the lever in the door (the lever with the ball facing in and lever facing down) so that when you pull on the inner handle, it will pull that lever forward to unlock the door. The inner handle will have to have the female piece that will snap on to the ball that is on the lever in the door. Before snapping it in place, grease it up a bit.

Hi -

I have a 72' T that I'm trying to install the RS door panels to. Does anyone have any good instructions on how to do this? I'm assuming the lever with the ball on the end of it has to be removed and the strap of the door panel needs to be attached elsewhere inside the door. Any tips, comments?

Aha!! FYI - no matter what I tried, I could not connect the lever with the ball to the back of the door handle - it just wouldn't reach.
I finally figured out that the latch mechanism in the door was from a different year car...the part with the ball on it that protrudes from the door was flat..the correct configuration for my car has 2 right angle bends in it which makes the ball close enough to the door handle so that I can now connect it.
Now I can open the doors from the inside - cool concept.
