I don't have that much experience in the newer cars but maybe it's a microphone or speaker for an alarm or phone......That's my guess.

My vote is for a interior temp sensor for climate control system.

That is a portal to the mysterious realm of the dashboard gnomes.
You must be very careful not to anger them, as the consequences to your wiring harness can be quite grim. Just ask SeaDweller

It is a temperature sensor.
But you can still talk into it. |

Temp. sensor for heater control. Check behind dash. You should see black tube extending from approx. area there on dash to firewall. This is a C2 right?

Yes, it's a C2. Emcon5. . .you've got me spooked man. I think you may be on to something with the portal theory. I'll continue to only speak in a smooth, soothing tone. . .not an easy thing to do in Atlanta traffic.
Honestly, I'd agree that it's probably a cabin temp sensor, but you wouldn't think it would have to be in such a noticeable place. Thanks for the ideas. . .especially the creative ones!!! Best, Mike 94 C2 cab |

I don't have my manual nearby now, but I was so excited when I bought my C2 last year that I actually read the manual. My recollection is that there is in fact a diagram in the manual showing that to be a temp sensor.

I am thinking it is a mic for a cell phone. The temperature sensor is mounted on the left of the climate control unit. I would think it unusual to have two.

Picked up my C2 yesterday. Look in the manual. The temp sensor is on the climate control unit. The thing in question is the speaker for the chime that sounds when you fail to engage the seat belt or open the door with keys in/lights on.
