Clock Repair

I'm trying to repair my clock. It was keeping perfect time then as the weather got colder the clock would stop and then when it warmed up a bit it would run again. Well, now it's gotten to the point where; regardless of hot or cold it doesn't hardly work at all.

I have read in some forums that folks have replaced the capacitors and got it working again. Mine don't appear to be burnt but i was going to replace them anyways.

Problem: What kind do I buy? They don't seem to have the usual marking. Can anyone give me the specs on these?

Thanks in advance.

I would call up Albuquerque Speedometer Service. The man who runs the shop is named Peter and he is a VDO trained technician. He did my clock and my speedo for me recently for around $120 for both and they look and work great. He could give you some advice or provide the parts you are looking for. (505) 242-2449

Just a thought....Buy a watch or get a radio with a time function...replace the gauge with something useful, like a head temp/alt gauge....

my clock has the same symptoms - it at least slows down in the cold, if it doesn't stop entirely

I always thought it was the grease congealing in the cold + dirt & crud

find out if your clock is Quartz controlled also...
