Front Floating Rotors
Awhile back I installed front and rear 993 calipers with rear factory Turbo rotors and 993 front rotors on turned down hubs.
I have some new hubs and decided to upgrade the fronts to the 1978-80 Turbo floating type, when I originally did the upgrade Bill V suggested I go this route for heat dispersion and lower weight. So here are my questions: 1. Is the factory front floating rotor with an after market aluminum hat still the best way to go with my 993 calipers or is there a better (larger, Brembo, ect.) alternative ? 2. Who makes the lowest cost aluminum hats that are still quality ? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks. |

You probably won't find factory floating hats, VCI and Prosystem should be able to set you up, Prosystem even has the correct rotors 2. Who makes the lowest cost aluminum hats that are still quality ? See above, you don't have to use floaters. The hats can be hard bolted to the rotors |
Hi Bill,
Thanks for chiming in. I’m not familiar with Prosystem, are you talking about Pro-System in Mooresville, NC ? Are you suggesting I might want to look at non-floating because the cost of the rotor or hat (maybe both) is a lot cheaper ? Please explain further on the comparison between floating and hard bolted hats, as much detail as possible. Thanks again. |

The floating hardware can add significatly to the cost, it is better for track use though. Here is a Prosystem floating mockup http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1198189804.jpg |
