Restoring a 1967 911 in CA

Hello,

I'm close to buy a 911 in the CA area. The car has been modified with wider rear quarters. It has been repainted with different color and needs floor replacement.
I would like to do a full restoration on the car and bring it back to it's original color before shipping it to Europe.

Can you suggest who can do this job?

Many thanks,

Josep

if no answers, try this query on the Early911s board

I bet it will be different people for different parts of the car -
- body & paint
- carpets/interior
- general mech.
- engine

josep, are you in california? I know the car is, but how much footwork are you able to do, or are you looking for a turnkey deal?

I mean you can hire Tim Goodrich to restore your 911 down to the molecular level, or you can hire Earl Shieb to do a respray for a few hundred bucks. Not to be sarcastic, but there literally is a huge huge array of guys who would be willing to take it on.

If you are looking for simple paint and freshen, then there is a great old school shop here in central california. The owner's building, tools and everything is paid off, and he's not dying for work. He does concours level work for a reasonable price.

If you want referrals for a turnkey job, you can post a query on PCA (Porsche Club of America), or try the advertisers on excellencemag.com

The car mechanically is in correct shape.

I'm thinking in full body stripping, floor, rear and front quaters replacement, any extra rust found repair, seals replacement, color change to original. I want it to be painted as perfect as possible.

I will travel to arrange the deal but I need to have advice on previous experiences from forum users.

Thanks!
