Fuel regulator placement
I am installing the PMO fuel regulator on my '67 that has a 2.4E motor. It looks as if I need to install a new return line as the car did not come equipped with one. So I started thinking about and started wondering the best configuration.
I have installed a new carter fuel pump in the front of the car in the smuggler's box. Then I thought maybe it would be a good idea to put the regulator up front also. That way it would stay cooler and spare me the task of running a return line from the rear back to the front. Of course I would loose the convenience of having the gauge visible in the engine bay, but would there be any other problems with this set up? |

As I read my post I realized that if I did put the regulator up front, I would still have to run a second line anyways. In this case it would be a second feed line as the PMO splits for each bank of carbs. Still open to ideas though!

You could always run a "dead head" regulator instead, which will not require a return line. Holley and Mallory both make models that would work, and I'm sure that there are others.
If you want run a short return line with the PMO regulator near the pump, you could block off one of the outlets an then use a splitter (Y-block) in the back of the car. Just be sure to run a fuel pressure guage at the splitter as there may be a pressure drop between the front and rear of the car. |
