It's nice to see this old thread resurrected again...

BK911, I had the same thing happen when I originally hooked up the PMO regulator. With the flow coming in and going out, the pressure was showing at about 9-12 psi no matter what I did. Dialing the adjustment screw down, it did change the pressure down to about 6 pounds, which was still too high. It also put a huge load on the fuel pump and the fuel pump began to scream. With the inlet line going into a bucket and no return, the CIS fuel pump could fill my 5-gallon bucket in about 2 minutes. It pushed a lot of fuel out and very quickly. After much thinking, I don't believe there is a kink in the system and it's just the high pressure output on the fuel pump. Steve Weiner offered to get me a 914-6 fuel pump which is nearly identical to the Bosch CIS fuel pump, with the exception that it puts out way less pressure. It's the only other fuel pump that runs a recirculatory system and not a dead head like Holley or Piersberg (sp?). But the drawback was the 914-6 pump was very expensive and had to be sent from the mother land. So I decided to go with a pressure bypass and used the PMO regulator only as a diverter and a gauge.

A nice dead head is dual diaphram and costs about $85. Rebuild kits are about $20

I looked at those and I really wanted one, but I still had the problem of too high of pressure in the incoming side. With no return, Steve Weiner said that the sustained high pressure would burn out my pump in no time...
