Dumb Question re Jacking
 

Okay, at the risk of sounding like a knob... How should I go about jacking my car? I know about the factory jack and jacking points, but I've got my garage set up with a good floor jack and jack stands. Where exactly do I place my floor jack under the car, and precisely where should the jack plate contact? Every other time I've needed to get under the car I've taken it to my wrench's shop and used his hoist (great bloke, never charges for the favour). Lastly, having the car in the air; where do I place my jack stands? Thanks Guys.

to jack the rear, place a thich sheet of carpet or a paper back book ont he floor jack and jack up under the sump cover...the roung thing with all the bolts...

then place floor jacks (with carpet on the u-shaped part) under the rear torsion bar covers...that are located right in front of the rear wheels.

for the front use a 2x4 a long one...that can span the distance between the 2 front torsion bar covers.

place the jack in the middle, then place jack stands on the 2x4 under the torsion bar covers...

have fun

That'll do it, although I use a length of 2x6 under the engine.

I'd also recommend you buy a jack plate for the jacking point on the side of the car.
